Meet our Founder

About Us

Hello, my names Emma and I'm the Founder of Soothe Your Storm.

This company was created to connect with like minded individuals also working through their own mental health journey. I personally suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder for over 7 years and still struggle with Anxiety today. 3 years ago, after struggling to find a journal that suited my needs,  I decided to develop what is now our signature Self-Care Journal!

Initially this journal started out as a way to support myself in-between and during my sessions, using the methods that truely helped me understand my daily triggers in a compact and pre-organised way. The main section of the journal uses a method called 'Developing Awareness', which was
originally given to me by my therapist in a PDF print out! At the time  I was constantly in survival mode and just trying to get through the day. I could barely organise my own house let alone keep a stack of paper together in one place, remember to carry one around with me and then take the individual pages to my next therapy session!

With such a scattered start to my own journey, I wanted this journal to be soothing, therefore our design concept heavily relies on nature and the understanding that plants are calming and resilient to the obstacles life throws at them. I commissioned Tasmanian based water colour artist Lily Barnett, who worked to capture this strength. You will find Vines featured, showing strength in their upward growth and are key to the brand design exhibited throughout the journal and business. Aesthetically the journal design features white pages and calming colours of pastel blue and green, once again reiterating that this journal is a soothing space to place the storm of your thoughts.

I launched this company alongside an exceptional team of people, who have made everything we have achieved so far as a small business possible, our team and I would also like to thank each and every one of you for your support!

Our plans for the future:
  • Continue to add accessories to help minimise every day stress
  • Mini journal and note books
  • Pop-up stores and retail stockists
  • An app
  • Supply to the Health Care sector
